Frequently Asked Questions

I have heard about ‘substitutions’. What are these, and how do they work? There are occasions when the retailer may not have the exact product you have ordered through us available at the time of your delivery. This means they will send you what they consider to be the closest alternative instead, and your bill will be adjusted accordingly. This will also be reflected in your balance with us.

Your Questions & Our Answers

How does my account with you work? This is much like a utility account. If you are making regular payments to us by standing order then you maintain a balance which you can ask us to use to order goods on your behalf. Alternatively your balance can be maintained by mutually agreed amounts paid by cheque or bank transfer.
Can I close my account with you at any time? Yes - just let us us know and we will close the account and refund any balance you may have in your account at that time.
I have heard substitutions happen a lot? Are they a problem? They do happen, but certainly not enough to worry about. It is still of great benefit to have your shopping delivered even if you are occasionally sent a very similar product to the one you asked for.
What if I don’t use a computer or the internet?  We appreciate there are many people who do not own a computer or use the internet. Our service can help you beneift from these things if you do not use them yourself.
Can I reject an item I don’t want?  Yes - if you notice the driver is delivering an item you would prefer not to accept then you can usually have it sent back straightaway and will not be charged for it.
What form of payment can I use?  You can pay us by standing order, cheque or bank transfer.
Do I ever have to use my credit or debit card?  There are many people who prefer not to use their bank cards to pay for our service. We accept other forms of payment.
How many deliveries do I pay you for at once? To avoid the situation where we cannot place an order you really need we ask that you make payment for 3 deliveries in advance. This way you can ‘top up’ your balance periodically and always be assured you have the funds with us to place an order when necessary.
Can I amend an order once I have made it through you?  You can amend an order you have made through us but you will need to inform us at leat 48 hours before delivery in order to ensure we can let the retailer know in time.
Can I take a break from deliveries?  You can temporarily stop deliveries at any time you choose. We fully recognise some people may not need to use the service ‘full-time’ and instead ‘dip in and out’.
What happens if I really need a delivery but there is not quite enough credit in my account to cover it?  We are able to place an order up to the level of the balance you may hold with us, but in this situation you would need to place an order of a lower value until we received the appropriate payment from you.
Can goods be ordered for another person?   Yes - if you want us to arrange for the goods to go to another person this is perfectly alright. This means you could place orders through us on behalf of a relative or friend who would benefit from the service.
Do I have to order the same things every time?  We recognise that you will not want exactly the same items each time you place an order.  You can amend your order. but we must bear in mind the administrative cost of making frequent wholesale changes. We do reserve the right to levy a small admin charge if we need to spend excessive time amending your order.
What if my balance with you builds up? Should this happen we can arrange a refund or ‘payment holiday’ so that the balance is kept at a reasonable level that will cover any future orders you place through us but is not in excess of what might be considered necessary.
Can I place an order if I don’t have funds with you to pay for it? In order to place an order you must have sufficient funds in the account that you hold with us.
Who will actually deliver the goods to me?   We order the goods from your chosen retailer on your behalf. The delivery of them to your home will be undertaken by that retailer. This    could    be    Sainsburys,    Tesco,    Waitrose,    Morrisons,    Asda, Ocado or Iceland.
Which retailers can you order from for me?   We can place order with any of the major supermarkets in your area who offer a home delivery service. This could be Sainsburys, Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, Asda, Ocado or Iceland. Retailers such as Lidl and Aldi do not offer a home delivery service and therefore we cannot arrange orders with them.
